FEARLESS: Heston ’13

Fearless Friday celebrates individuals, groups, or events that promote change or challenge injustice.

Twelve Gettysburg students are embarking on their Heston Internship adventures this week! Liz Marshall, Victoria Perez-Zetune, Rashida Aluko-Roberts, and Jen Johnson all arrived in Kenya earlier this week. Throughout the summer, Nicole Dibble and Mary Maloney will be working in Léon, Nicaragua, and Eric Harris, Katie Patterson, Uyen Le, Helena Yang, Emily Hauck, and Nadeijah Towns will all be delving father into our very own Gettysburg community.

All around the world and close to home, each of these students will be fearlessly engaging in community action through their independent assignments. Whether through working with organizations to combat AIDS or working with the LIU Migrant Education Summer School, each of these individuals is directly engaging in their respective communities to both learn about community and build relationships. Through their summer experience, these students are all actively engaging in very real domestic and international initiatives. They will be blogging throughout the summer, so to keep up with their adventures and the fearless strides they make, you can go here and read about them. We’re very proud of these very fearless Gettysburg Students who are off to do some great work this summer!

And a shout-out goes to the Gettysburg alum James Heston ’70 whose generous gift funds this incredible summer experience for Gettysburg College students.
